Export packaging for coconut shisha charcoal is the three-layer system that moves briquettes from the factory floor to a retail shelf: a heat-sealed inner plastic that protects the charcoal from moisture, a printed inner box that presents it to the end customer, and a corrugated master box that carries it through ocean freight.

An inner box is the printed retail box the end customer sees — it holds plastic-wrapped charcoal, carries your brand and the retail markings, and stacks into the master carton.

Neutral (unbranded) packaging
Neutral packaging — also called unbranded, plain, or generic — is plain kraft master cartons, generic inner boxes, and clear plastic. There is no printing surcharge and no extra minimum beyond the standard 18 tons (one 20ft container) order MOQ. Neutral is not blank: every export carton still carries the mandatory UN 1361 dangerous-goods, country-of-origin, and net-weight markings. It is the fastest, lowest-cost path to a loaded container.

A View from the Other Side: Is Shipping Neutral Packaging a False Economy?
The strongest case against neutral packaging is a real one: in shisha retail, the box is the brand. An importer who lands an unbranded container saves on print setup but inherits a commodity product — indistinguishable on a lounge shelf, easy to undercut on price, and impossible to build repeat demand around. By this view, "neutral to save time and cost" is a false economy that trades a one-time print fee for a permanent margin ceiling. This holds when your end channel is branded retail — a buyer selling into shops and distributors who never re-boxes the product is right to print from day one.
Inner retail box
Where it does not hold is everywhere else, and the page's own facts carry the rebuttal. Neutral here is not lower-spec: it ships in the same three-layer system — heat-sealed inner plastic, inner box, corrugated master carton — with the same moisture protection and the same mandatory UN 1361 / Class 4.2 dangerous-goods, country-of-origin, and net-weight markings as a branded carton. The only thing neutral omits is your logo, at no printing surcharge and no minimum beyond the standard 18 tons (one 20ft container) MOQ. For cafés, lounges, and bulk buyers who re-box into their own retail packaging, paying for print twice is the false economy. And neutral is not a dead end: because white-label runs from buyer-supplied artwork with a die-line we provide and artwork kept on file, a buyer can validate the product on a neutral first container and switch to fully branded on the repeat order — same factory, same spec, a 21-day repeat lead time once artwork is approved. Coconut charcoal ships as IMDG Code UN 1361 Class 4.2 (spontaneous combustion) cargo. Carriers require the UN 1361 marking and Class 4.2 dangerous-goods labels on every master carton before they accept the booking — plain kraft and fully branded cartons carry exactly the same markings.

Alongside the DG set, every carton is printed with country of origin (Made in Indonesia), net weight, and a batch/lot code for traceability. Wood pallets, when palletization is requested, are ISPM-15 heat-treated and stamped.

How much does custom-printed packaging cost?
Custom-print costs are add-ons on top of the charcoal FOB price — inner-box printing is priced per kg, and finish upgrades (lamination, emboss, UV spot, foil) and a double-wall master-box upgrade are priced per ton. Current rates are quoted on inquiry, FOB Semarang, Indonesia. Neutral packaging carries no printing surcharge.
What is the minimum order for custom-printed packaging?
The custom-print minimum counts per printed design, on top of the standard order MOQ of 18 tons (one 20ft container). A single branded container is fine — there is no recurring-order commitment, and you can run multiple designs or sizes in one container. The exact per-design minimum is confirmed on inquiry.
Do you send a digital proof and physical sample before printing?
Yes, both. You receive a digital proof within 7 working days of final artwork, and a physical pre-production sample of your packaging before the production run. Nothing is mass-printed until you approve both.
How long does a custom packaging order take?
A first branded order adds 7–10 days on top of the 21-day production window for a 20-ft container, covering the artwork cycle: digital proof in 7 working days, physical sample, then print. Repeat orders with artwork already on file carry no addition and run at the base 21 days. Neutral orders skip proofing entirely and follow the same window.
How many master boxes fit in a 20ft container?
A 20ft container loads 18,500 kg of charcoal net. Loose-loaded, that is 1,850 × 10 kg or 925 × 20 kg master boxes. Palletized counts are lower and quoted per order, since pallet size and box mix change the math.
Do you provide a die-line or packaging template?
Yes. We supply the die-line and template for every printed item — you place your artwork on it and return print-ready files (AI / PDF). We print your design; we don't design it.
What finishes are available on the inner box?
Inner boxes ship on 230 gsm board with a matte or gloss coating as standard. Upgrade finishes — lamination, emboss, UV spot, foil — are available per design and quoted on inquiry.
Can you print my retail barcode, country of origin, and net weight?
Yes. Retail inner boxes are printed with your barcode/EAN — you supply the number, we print it — plus net weight, country of origin, and batch/lot code. We don't issue EAN numbers; registration stays with your brand.
Are UN 1361 dangerous-goods markings printed on the packaging?
Yes, on every master carton without exception. Coconut charcoal ships as IMDG Code UN 1361 Class 4.2 (spontaneous combustion) cargo, and carriers require the UN 1361 marking and Class 4.2 DG labels before accepting the booking — on neutral and branded cartons alike.
Is my packaging design kept confidential?
