Ordering & MOQ
Can I mix products, shapes, and grades inside one container?
Yes — one 20ft FCL holds 18 tons in any combination of our six shapes and three grades. Mixed loads are common for buyers building a multi-SKU retail line off a single shipment. The packing list itemizes each shape, size, grade, and inner/master-box count so your customs broker can map every SKU to its HS code.
How do I place a wholesale order?
Send a wholesale inquiry on WhatsApp or through the contact form with your destination port, shape and grade, and target volume in containers. We reply with a USD price list FOB Semarang, current lead time, and a draft Proforma Invoice. Once you sign and return the PI we issue the deposit invoice — that triggers raw-material allocation and the production schedule.
Are you a manufacturer or a trading company?
PT Mulia Coconut Charcoal Indonesia is a registered manufacturer, not a trading company. We operate 8 carbonization ovens at our own plant in Bitung, North Sulawesi, and 4 briquetting lines at our Semarang, Central Java factory, producing 350 tons per month under ISO 9001:2015.
Production & Lead Time
What is your production capacity per day?
Daily production capacity is 14 tons of finished briquettes — roughly one 20ft container every working day, or 350 tons per month. Most of our charcoal is carbonized at our own plant in Bitung, North Sulawesi, where 8 ovens run on a 24-hour cycle; we supplement from vetted suppliers to meet demand. We press, dry, weather and pack and press, dry, weather and pack at the Semarang factory across 4 briquetting lines. Capacity is binder-cure paced, not press-paced, so the binder ratio holds constant across full-rate runs.
How long does it take to produce one container?
One 20ft FCL (18 tons) takes roughly 1.5 production days end-to-end, but real lead time is dominated by the binder cure and drying cycle, not press throughput. After the press, briquettes cure for at least 36 hours and dry for several days before QC and packing. We schedule the carrier booking in parallel so the container is ready on the agreed laycan.
What is the total lead time from deposit to shipment?
Total lead time from cleared deposit to the container leaving Semarang is about 21 days for a 20-ft container and 21–25 days for a 40-ft. A first order under a new brand adds 7–10 days on top of that, because the packaging artwork has to be proofed and signed off before the print run starts; a repeat order with artwork already on file carries no addition and ships at the base figure. Quality & Specifications
What grades do you offer and how do they differ?
We offer three grades: Premium (≥ 75% fixed carbon, 2.5-2.8% ash, 2+ hours burn at 600 °C), Super Premium (≥ 80% fixed carbon, 2.0-2.5% ash, 2+ hours at 650 °C), and Platinum (≥ 82% fixed carbon, 1.6-2.0% ash, 2.5+ hours at 680 °C). All three are 100% natural coconut shell carbon bound with food-grade tapioca starch under ISO 9001:2015. How is each batch tested?
Every container is tested before loading. Our in-house lab runs the full spec panel, and an accredited independent laboratory (Carsurin, Beckjorindo or SGS) verifies ash content, moisture, fixed carbon, and volatile matter on every container. We issue a Certificate of Analysis (COA) reporting the measured values — ash, fixed carbon, volatile matter, moisture, calorific value, and burn time. The COA ships with each container and with samples, so you can verify the burn specs in your own lab before committing to FCL.
Do briquettes have a shelf life and how should they be stored?
Properly stored coconut shell briquettes have a shelf life of 24 months from the production date, which we record per batch and give you on request. Store sealed in a cool, dry warehouse away from direct sunlight; coconut briquettes are mildly hygroscopic, so moisture pickup in humid storage shortens burn time and raises smoke output. Re-sealing the inner pouch after opening preserves the burn profile across the full shelf life.
What happens if specs are off-target on arrival?
Every shipment ships with a batch Certificate of Analysis — backed by an independent third-party laboratory report — before the container loads, so spec compliance is verified at source. If an independent re-analysis at destination shows a material deviation from the COA — for example ash content above the stated ceiling — send the destination lab report on company letterhead within 30 days of B/L date. We replace or credit at the per-ton FOB invoice value of the affected lot; we will not credit ocean freight or destination duties.
Do you make natural coconut coals or quick-light / instant-light coals?
We manufacture only 100% natural coconut shell briquettes — no chemical accelerants. Natural coals require external heat (electric coil, gas burner) to ignite and burn 2+ hours at consistent surface temperature. Quick-light coals are pre-treated with saltpetre or similar accelerants that flash-ignite, burn faster, and emit characteristic odor. The IMDG classification differs: natural coconut coals are UN 1361 Class 4.2, while chemically-treated quick-light coals are UN 1362 — we do not produce UN 1362 product.
OEM / Private Label / Packaging
Do you offer OEM and private-label packaging?
Yes — private label is our default for retail-bound orders. We print full-color inner plastic, 230 gsm inner boxes (250 g / 500 g / 1 kg / 2 kg / 3 kg / 5 kg), and 10 kg or 20 kg master cartons (single- or double-wall) from your AI / PDF artwork. Print proof turns around in 7 working days; minimum to start a private label is one 20ft FCL (18 tons (one 20ft container)). Full packaging overview at /packaging.
What packaging options exist (full / standard / bulk)?
Three packaging tiers: Full (printed inner plastic + inner box + master box — retail-ready), Standard (inner plastic + inner box), and Pouch-in-master (inner plastic + master box — bulk for distributors who repack locally). Inner plastic sizes are 250 g / 500 g / 1 kg; inner boxes are 250 g / 500 g / 1 kg / 2 kg / 3 kg / 5 kg; master cartons are 10 kg or 20 kg.
Do you design packaging, or do I supply the artwork?
We manufacture briquettes and print packaging — we do not design. Send print-ready Adobe Illustrator or PDF files (AI / PDF) at the dieline dimensions we share, CMYK at 300 dpi with 3 mm bleed. If you need a designer we can refer one in Semarang who knows our dielines, but the design contract is between you and the designer.

What certifications do you hold?
We hold ISO 9001:2015, certified by TÜV Rheinland and IMDG Code compliance for UN 1361 Class 4.2 (spontaneous combustion). The quality pillar is the canonical list — it covers what each certificate attests, how it differs from the per-order Certificate of Analysis, and how to request a scan.
Samples & Factory Visits
Can I get a sample before ordering?
Yes. Lab-grade 1000-gram samples ship within 48 hours by air courier (DHL / FedEx, around 5-day transit); every sample includes a batch COA so you can verify burn time, ash, and fixed carbon in your own lab before committing. Sample freight is quoted by destination and paid by the buyer; we credit the freight back against your first 20ft FCL order. Larger multi-grade evaluation kits are quoted on request.
Can I visit the factory?
Yes — wholesale buyers are welcome at our Semarang factory by appointment, Mon–Sat 08:00–16:00 Asia/Jakarta. The visit covers the briquetting lines, drying tunnel, QC station, packing, and the loading bay; allow about 90 minutes for the full walk-through. Carbonization runs at our separate plant in Bitung, North Sulawesi, which we can arrange to show on request. If you cannot travel, we run live WhatsApp video tours covering the same stations — message us to schedule a slot.
How do I verify you're a legitimate, registered company?
PT Mulia Coconut Charcoal Indonesia is an Indonesian-registered manufacturer, not a trading company. We have operated since 2018 and hold ISO 9001:2015, certified by TÜV Rheinland; the legal name on every Proforma Invoice and Bill of Lading matches our registration. Our director, Andri Dharmawan, is reachable on the published company line, by phone or WhatsApp, for any KYC verification step your import bank requires.
